What will my accent wall cost?

Square & Plumb does not print prices, because the wall, the room and the plan change the answer every time. Trim My Crib gives each project its price in person, after seeing the space.

What paint sheen is easiest to clean?

Sherwin-Williams describes satin as easily washable for high-traffic areas and semi-gloss as easy to clean; it notes flat paint is prone to scuffs and stains.

How much paint does one accent wall need?

Measure width times height and subtract windows and doors. Sherwin-Williams says a gallon covers about 350–400 sq ft and a quart about 100 sq ft; Behr gives 250–400 sq ft per gallon for one coat. A 14-by-9-foot wall with one 3-by-5 window is 111 sq ft per coat.

Why did my new wood wall change color?

The Wood Handbook says indoor wood changes color with exposure to visible light; dark woods tend to lighten and light woods to darken. Keep art off new paneling for about 2–3 months so it ages evenly.

How big should a paint sample be?

Larger than a chip: something close to poster size, painted in two coats, on the wall that will be the accent. Look at it in the morning, late afternoon and under lamps.

Do I need to move my thermostat?

Not always, but it should be on the plan. A thermostat, grille or switch in the middle of a pattern is easier to deal with before design starts than after.

Which homes is Square & Plumb written for?

South Sarasota and its neighbors: Venice, Osprey, Wellen Park, Nokomis, Casey Key and Manasota Key. Nowhere else.
